How to Wear a Monochromatic Outfit

Here are three important tips for styling an outfit using only one color:

Tones

Pairing up pieces that are tonal will create a slight break from the overall color, giving your body the visual shape it deserves. If the colors are an exact match, the definition in your body will be missed.

Textures

Styling an monochromatic outfit can look flat but if you wear pieces with various textures, it will create dimension. For example, in these images I am wearing fur, lace, felt and wool materials. They all work well together being in the same color family but help to avoid your outfit from appearing one dimensional.

Seasonality

Pick a color that is seasonally appropriate. This burgundy color is perfect for the month of December. In January, I would recommend grey or camel colors. In the Spring, try mint or pink.

Today’s look would be great for your holiday parties this month. You will certainly turn some heads and of course be the most eye catching in the group! Not often do you see monochromatic outfits being flaunted. Now that you know the tricks, you can werk it girl!

Putting this outfits together was so much fun! I love trying new and unique looks. What do you think about the monochromatic look? Yay or Nay?
